Want to be more involved in the community and the events? The Chamber of Commerce is the way to do that! The Chamber of Commerce oversees several of the committees and events that are held in the county. Atwood Music Festival has been one of the counties biggest events for the past 45 years. What started as an outdoor Bluegrass music festival on the banks of the Pearl River has bloomed into a country music festival for people of all ages to enjoy. Names such as Trace Adkins, Charlie Daniels, Brett Eldredge, Tracy Lawrence, and many more have all performed at our Party on the Pearl. Atwood Music Festival is a Chamber of Commerce event that you can be involved in as a member.
The Chamber of Commerce also offers members a chance to participate as a Service Club member. The service club host several events in the county throughout the year including “Red, White, and You”, a county wide Easter Egg hunt, and Texas Chili Meal. As a chamber member you can get involved with any of these events.
Trunk or Treat
Lawrence County has recently started to partner with church across the county to host a Halloween Trunk or Treat in downtown Monticello. The roads are closed down and allows kids a fun, festival style event on Halloween that is safe. This committee works to plan and execute the event from contacting churches to coming up with games and activities for the kids to partake in.
Monticello host a annual Monticello Marketplace in November to kick off the Thanksgiving and Christmas season with a vendors market in downtown Monticello. The street will be lined with vendors from across the state and the downtown businesses will all be open to shop in. This committee works to plan, contact vendors, come up with idea’s that the whole family can enjoy.
Monticello Christmas Parade
We kick off the Christmas season in full force with our annual Christmas parade. The first Saturday of December we have our Christmas parade complete with Santa himself to finish off the parade. This committee works to come up with a theme for the parade as well as work to organize the day of to help things run smoothly.
Life of Christ
Lawrence County has recently started a Life of Christ display for one weekend in December. The Chamber of Commerce partners with several churches across the county to have each act out a section of Jesus’s life on earth. It is a great drive thru display that people of all ages will enjoy!
